Wave couplings by norelem

From simple drives to complex positioning drives

Precise torque transmission, vibration damping, and motion control - couplings by norelem are versatile and available in various designs. These include metal bellows, elastomer jaw, spring beam, cross-sliding, and rigid couplings.

Wave couplings connect two shafts and transmit rotational movements and torques from a driving shaft to a driven shaft. The shafts are coupled either through a rigid or elastic connection. In most cases, linear shaft connections are realized using elastic wave couplings. Wave couplings are also used to compensate for axial and radial shaft misalignments and angular errors, as well as to dampen vibrations and shocks.

Applications of norelem couplings

Wave couplings are used in a wide range of applications and designs: from simple drives in tool, packaging, and textile machinery to complex positioning drives in control and regulation technology. They are divided into two functional areas. First, applications where torque and power transmission are essential, such as in pumps, conveyor systems, and agitators. Second, applications for position and motion control that require precise and accurate transmission of rotational movements, such as in servo and stepper motors for linear axes.

Available designs

Norelem offers wave couplings as metal bellows and elastomer jaw couplings, as well as spring beam, cross-sliding, and rigid couplings. The choice of design depends primarily on the transmitted power and the type of connection to be compensated. The installation method is also an important factor. Thus, there are designs with clamping hubs and detachable clamping hubs, which are slotted and split for rigid couplings. Couplings with detachable, split clamping hubs can be mounted radially, and the shaft and drive do not need to be disassembled for the installation or replacement of the coupling.

Wave couplings are virtually maintenance-free. Only in the case of elastomer jaw couplings, the coupling stars made of polyurethane are subject to aging and wear due to the load. However, the stars can be easily replaced without having to replace the entire coupling.

Metal bellows couplings are made of stainless steel and aluminum, with the metal bellows made of stainless steel and the hub made of aluminum and stainless steel. These couplings are mounted with clamping hubs or detachable clamping hubs. Available for shaft diameters from 3 to 70 mm, they transmit torques from 0.5 to 1500 Nm.

Elastomer jaw couplings are made of aluminum and stainless steel, with the coupling star made of polyurethane. The assembly is done using clamping hubs or detachable clamping hubs. Norelem's elastomer jaw couplings are available for shaft diameters from 3 to 60 mm and can transmit torques from 0.7 to 525 Nm.

Spring beam couplings are made of aluminum and stainless steel. They are mounted using clamping hubs or detachable clamping hubs. These spring beam couplings are designed for shaft diameters from 3 to 35 mm and torques from 3 to 130 Nm.

Cross-sliding couplings are made of aluminum and can be mounted on shaft diameters from 3 to 14 mm using clamping hubs. They transmit torques from 1 to 7 Nm.

Rigid couplings are made of steel and stainless steel and are of a slotted and split construction. They can transmit torques from 16 to 2250 Nm, depending on shaft diameters ranging from 8 to 85 mm.
